The prevalence of mental and emotional health issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD and suicide amongst children and teenagers is skyrocketing in the US and other western nations. In the US, antidepressant use quadrupled between 2005 and 2008. In 2010 alone, over 5.2 million children between the ages of 3-17 were prescribed Ritalin for hyperactivity disorder.
Our society is moving at an exponentially faster speed. The average American home contains 300,000 items and with instantaneously reported world news our homes are no longer the safe havens they once were.
