Good Science the Sleep Training Culture Isn’t Talking About
Discover the Evidence-Based Research and Start Parenting Through the Night Your Way
Solitary sleep. Drowsy but awake. Feed, play, sleep. Self-soothing. Sleep training.
It’s easy to listen to every single voice other than your own intuition. Whether it’s your neighbor’s, your mother’s, your mother-in-law’s, your barista’s...the list of competing opinions is endless and overwhelming.
It’s enough to make any new parent feel defeated, anxious, and exhausted. And how could you not? You’re only human after all.
Interestingly, it’s our human nature and our biology that stands in contrast to what we’re being told is the “right” way to get our babies to sleep at night.
Sound familiar?
Yet these black & white rules and strategies don’t make sense to you.
And they shouldn’t. Because they’re arbitrary. They’re not backed by science. They’re not rooted in developmental psychology. They’re not supported by neuroscience.
Perhaps intuition already tells you this. But what if I told you science agrees wholeheartedly?

They are incredibly thorough, well-researched and referenced without being too difficult to read. As a first-time mum, I had many of the doubts that have been dispelled by finding out (sometimes the hard way) what Tracy has so eloquently and beautifully put together in these guides. The information is so beautifully laid out that you can’t help but read it and these are incredibly well-priced for the amount of work and research that has gone into them. – Andrea Andric | Mother, Digital Marketing Specialist and Administrator for the Beyond Sleep Training Project
“I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in NYC on a mission to help parents understand biologically normal infant/baby sleep. In my city, we have many pediatricians who are encouraging sleep training early in infancy and promoting sleep methods that negatively impact breastfeeding and lactation. Thankfully, Tracy has written an honest and well-researched guide to normal baby sleep. Her easy-to-read Sleep Series is a compilation of research and myth-busting analysis that will become an integral part of my parent education around sleep and the harmful impact that unnaturally long and deep baby sleep has on breastfeeding and lactation.”
– Barbara Cohen | Mother and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
Hi there!
I'm Tracy
the founder, writer and advocate behind the award-winning blog, Raised Good - a guide to natural parenting in the modern world. Based in Vancouver and originally launched in 2016, I’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response and the global community that’s developed.
Our common thread is that our instincts are telling us something about the way our culture tells us to raise children isn’t working. And while I may not have all the answers, I’m willing to ask the tough questions and advocate for kids and for you, their brave and amazing mum.
Together we’re reclaiming the wonder of motherhood and the joy of childhood one decision at a time.
Motherhood isn’t meant to be spent worrying about what other people think or googling “Is it ok to nurse my baby to sleep?
The aim of The Sleep Series is not to infer that all parents can or should bedshare, or any other act of “natural parenting”. Rather, it is my hope that you will come to understand the why for your choices based on research, along with a constant practice of mindfulness and following your intuition.
I want you to relax in the knowledge that your choice to be responsive to your baby is the right one.
