Woom Bikes

Woom make bikes for kids. As opposed to most bike companies who make bikes for adults and then have a kids range. Oh the difference it makes.

WE LOVE

We or I should say I made a big mistake with our son’s bike choices. We had a balance bike which we loved when he was a toddler and then one day after he’d mastered the balance bike we were in a local outdoor store when he spotted a “big boys bike” he just has to have. I am an avid bike rider and I can’t wait to be out taking long rides with my son, so I jumped on it.

But it was heavy. Oh my gosh, so heavy (as all parents know when we end up carrying the bike when the playground is more appealing than riding!). And it had training wheels – what was I thinking especially after having used the balance bike?!

So, we sold the heavy clunky bike on Craiglist and I started doing my research. We visited local bike stores who tried to sell us bikes that they said were the perfect size for him, but in my gut I knew they were too big. I read reviews and other parents’ experiences online and spoke to friends and family.

We decided on the Woom.

It was more expensive than I’d hoped but the second it arrived I forgot about the cost because this bike is amazing. Woom make bikes for kids. As opposed to most bike companies who make bikes for adults and then have a kids range. Oh the difference it makes.

Super light frame

Easy to remove pedals to use as a balance bike until kids are ready for pedals

The front and back break levers are different colours so kids easily learn which is which

The closed chain is completely guarded so little legs don’t get caught up in the chain

The seat is designed to fit the hip bones of a growing child

The steering limiter is an important safety feature that prevents the handlebars from overturning; it helps the little ones ride straight

The colours of the bikes are beautiful to look at – no garish fluorescent colors.

Some of my favourite features:

Woom bikes come in logical sizing, from 1 through 6, for all age kiddos plus they have a range of awesome accessories. If you order directly through Woom and live in the U.S you can upcycle your child’s bike for a small fee, which means when they outgrow their bike, you return it and get 40% back on the next size bike.

In short, we are in love with this bike and when our son outgrows his Woom 3, we’ll be ordering the Woom 4.
