I’m thankful you’ve found yourself here and invite you to approach everything from Raised Good understanding this:
This is a dialogue, not a declaration.
This is a vibrant community of diverse individuals, not singularly dependent on a rigid right-or-wrong way of thinking.
You see, this thing called parenthood is full of shoulds and labels, fears and baggage.
So when you arrive here, I want you to leave all of that at the door.
I want you to feel seen, heard, accepted and understood.
I want you to feel comfortable as you settle in, grab a cuppa and stay awhile.
I want you to come back often – whether you need encouragement, information, a boost of confidence or a shoulder to cry on.
I want you to feel safe enough to allow yourself to be vulnerable.
I want the words on the screen to expand the infinite possibility of the mother residing within you.
I want you to wrestle with my words, hold them up to the light, take what works for you and leave the rest.
I want you to leave feeling rested, rejuvenated and validated. Inspired, empowered and informed.
I want you to know that I am growing and learning, stumbling and evolving right alongside you on this journey. I have my own raft of imperfections and insecurities, chaos and contradictions – as we all do. And I wouldn’t change it for the world; for those imperfections are the path to connection, awakening and consciousness.
I want you to know that I can’t sugar coat things. If you met my Dad, you’d realise it must be genetic. But I have a very sensitive heart, a curious mind and an empathic soul.
I want you to know that I’m not here to convert you to a one size fits all parenting style, for it doesn’t exist and even if it did, it’s not what I’m about. I’m about planting seeds and shining lights.
Maybe my words will take root or uncover a path you’d like to take or maybe they won’t.
But either way, I’ll have done my job by reminding you that you always have a choice. I’m here to help remove your doubt and worry so that your choices are based on your hopes, not your fears.
I want you to lean on this community to support you when swimming against the tide of society’s expectations. As it starts to wear you down and all you want to do is give up, push back and find safety in the familiarity of our culture’s status quo. I’m here to show you that hard doesn’t mean bad or wrong.
Know this: your child needs you, your whole self, your unapologetic authentic soul. Which is why these pages are about transformation. We’re transforming the way we raise our children, sure, but it’s more than that. It’s about healing, reflecting and transforming ourselves – it’s about stepping into our power and wisdom as women and becoming strong leaders. For ourselves, for our children and for those around us.
I acknowledge life is complex; it is anything but black and white. We make decisions based on the information, resources and support we have at the time. I promise to never pass judgement for any decision you make. How could I? I don’t know your story. I don’t know your individual child. I don’t know your circumstances or environment. I don’t know what lead you here.
But what I will do is be an advocate for you. I will question and challenge and judge a society that disempowers mothers, that misunderstands babies and that disrespects children. I will do that all day long.
You’ve stayed with me this far so here is what I can assure you of as we continue moving forward:
I will help you make a conscious effort to raise happy and healthy children.
I will help you forge a trusting bond and an unshakeable connection.
I will help you attune to your child’s needs and respond with respect and compassion.
I will help you make informed decisions based on what feels most natural to you. Nobody else.
I will help you reclaim the wonder of motherhood and surrender to the joy and messiness of childhood.
And lastly, I hope we can all be reminded of our humanity. When the mediated nature of screens causes us to forget how much we share as imperfect beings, I hope we graciously treat one another with love and compassion.
May we always lead with curiosity and openness and forge a deep connection over what we have in common, and what we don’t.
This is when life and parenting really gets good.
With you on the journey,
Tracy xo
